PopKulturOst e. V. is an association of music enthusiasts who want to bring the sound of the East to the stage – both literally and symbolically:

Even decades after the end of the German Democratic Republic, a music culture lives on that was influenced and shaped by this country.

We want to document, (re)discover and make it possible to experience the beginnings of music history, the movements and their development, the protagonists, the music, the enthusiasm, the abundance of ideas and the skill, unaffected by any (N-)Ostalgie.

We want to give the artists and creators a place to share their stories, their experiences and their knowledge.

Our ambition is to establish a place in real life in the future – not as a museum, but as a place for documentation, meetings, making music, jamming and generating ideas.

We want to appeal to fans and music enthusiasts, but also to interested minds and explorers of all musical genres, ages and backgrounds, and invite them to support us in our plans to discover – and develop – music and musicians.
